Aberhart Athletics

We would like to welcome you to Aberhart Athletics. We offer a wide variety of sports for our students. Aberhart is built on our history; we are recognized throughout the CBE for competing at a high level and emphasizing family. We value the relationships within the walls of the school, field, court, mat, track & pool.

Our student-athletes are considered role models. They are expected to display leadership, sportsmanship and teamwork as a student and athlete. They will develop and maintain a high level of discipline, commitment and time management skills during their time at ABE. Student-athletes at ABE will learn valuable life lessons about hard work and personal growth.

We are fortunate to have a phenomenal coaching staff, both in school and community. Through hard work and effort, our Aberhart athletes have raised multiple banners in the ABE gym. The ABE family is also proud of the accomplishments of our athletes. Many of our athletes get the opportunity to play at College and University with scholarships across Canada and the USA. We also have former ABE athletes that have represented our country at the national and olympic level.

Participation in Athletics at William Aberhart is a wonderful opportunity we provide for our students. Being on a school team is often positively associated with increased academic performance, as well as contributing positively to school culture.

We thank you for choosing to be a part of the ABE family. We welcome you with open arms. If you have any questions about our program, please do not hesitate to contact us. We cannot wait to meet you.

Fees

Each team will have fees associated with them. These fees will vary from team to team. Most team fees will cover the expenses of league play (referees, facility bookings), uniform rentals, photos, equipment, training supplies and substitute coverage costs for teachers. Higher fees are typically indicative of more out-of-town tournaments, team clothing and other team specific opportunities.

Practice and Game Schedules

Most teams are active before and/or after school, 4-5 days per week. It is a heavy but rewarding experience. Generally speaking, there will be 2-4 practices a week, 1-2 games a week, and tournaments on some weekends depending on the sport. Tryout, practice and tournament schedules will be communicated at the beginning of the season, and all game schedules for all sports are posted at Calgary High School Sports at the beginning of each season. Students should expect to travel on their own to off-site league games for most teams, but will generally travel as a team on a school bus to out-of-town tournaments.
